Our son has autism which my wife and i have coped with, for the most part reasonably well except for two major problems.Don't get me wrong there has been issues many many....... like the time he left the house naked in the middle of the night in sub zero temperatures!!..
when pooping our son seems to need to go in his hand then put it in the toilet............ this makes for quite a mess..........very hard to get the smell from his hands before school........if you make too much of a fuss about this he will simply not go at all........i mean for days.......
second problem is he pees on the floor because it appears he is too lazy to go to the tiolet........he'll wake up walk 2 ft and pee on the floor instead of going 15 ft to toilet......... he knows its bad .... you ask him where pee goes and he will tell ... in the toilet........... this is solved if i wake him up first then he goes to the bathroom.....but i leave too early for that most days and my wife needs her sleep......... whats that saying happy wife happy life!!... as i work alot my poor wife is left with dealing with these issues on her own so any help would be greatly appreciated..

I can't help to give you any ideas about going on the floor, because my 8 year old will do this, too....as for the stinky hand , I have a solution....after thoroughly washing his hands, squeeze some fresh lemon juice on it....rub his nails with the lemon as well (lemon should be cut in half)...I swear, it works

I have a collection of links related to toileting issues, including a section on older children:
http://www.autism-pdd.net/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=16098&am p;KW=potty+resources
I suspect that he wants to poop into his hand because he doesn't like to be splashed. It might work to buy a raised toilet seat to increase the distance between him and the water, with handles to prompt him to keep his hands out. Something like this:
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_1n7QV0ithFI/SPFRXFU0qtI/AAAAAAAABb M/f2RL6oXuTpY/s400/RAISED_TOILET_SEAT_ARMS.jpg
There may also be something that helps him avoid other unpleasant sensory input or get what sensory input that he likes. If you haven't charted his sensory over- and undersensitivities, you can use this checklist:
http://www.sensory-processing-disorder.com/sensory-processin g-disorder-checklist.html
Finally, on the issue of missing the toilet, I'm not quite sure if I've understood the situation correctly. Is this a problem only in the morning? Does he believe he went in the toilet?
My eldest will go without turning the light on, and of course miss. I wouldn't say it's because of laziness, which would be a conscious choice to not do it. Rather, his head is so full of other thoughts that he doesn't think consciously that it's dark and he needs to turn on the light. So we leave the light on 24/7.
I'm not sure if the situation is comparable to yours, but maybe will help anyways. At least how it works with me. It's not always direct advice that helps me find the answer, it's a stray comment that gets me to look at the situation from a slightly different angle.
Good luck

Im not sure if I can suggest anything helpful to you as you have probably tried everything. Im not sure making him clean it up will make a dfference as it clearly doesn't bother him. My daughter is at and has regressed again with toileting and it wouldn't bephase her to have to clean up as she likes handling it.
The best thing for her are rewards for the positive behaviour and not making a big deal about the negatives. We have a first then schedule. First poos in toilet then olives(with pictures) Olives are her favourite food. We make a big fuss when she pees in the toilet and tell her she is a good girl. I think some of her peeing and poioing around the house is attention seeking- she enoys seeing us upset and thinks its funny. Hoowever she enoys pouring things and has in the past poured her own urine.Would your son wear a disposable gove do you think or does he actually need to feel the faeces. The thing is to try and work out why he does the behavoours, attention seeking, sensory , scared of the poos splashing in the toilet. Good luck, its a hard one to deal with I know.

I was thinking about this today. Is it possible his stool is hard, and that's why it looks like he is going in his hand? Have you tried stool softeners? Just a thought.
As for the other it sounds like it only happens when he's half asleep. Have you considered having him where an adult pull-up to bed. We had to make J wear pull-ups to bed after years of not because he started to wet himself because he didn't want to get up to go. He was so pissed about having to wear pull-ups he actually stopped having trouble. We would only make him wear them on the nights after he had an accident.

hi online our son sounds like the twin to your daughter......last year nick started a terrible habit or stem of spitting on his hand and rubbing on his face.......... he did this in school once and one of his teachers assistants was totally grossed out sent a huge letter home in the kit bag.....[as if we could fix the problem over nite!! lol]........
well nick loved that reaction so much he did this for 3 months.......we had to convince everybody involved with nick to ignore it and praise him when he had dry hands......thank god it finally took.......nick is a very handsome and good natured young man but he used up some of the good will he has built up over the years on this one!
We were actually going to try disposable glove tonite! hope he will keep them on!

hi norway mom
actually nick will pee in the day as well........our basement is finished with a tv etc... well nick loves this room to watch his videos without any body bothering him [ like his brother] .. there is no bathroom down there so it is a long trek to the upstairs for a bathroom break so the odd time he will go on the floor..........Now my wife just told me the other day that he won't do it when he knows i'm around and keeping tabs on him...........the main reason for this is that if i see pee nick is gone from that room immediately no questions or second chances.......Nick difinitely know its bad .. i caught him in the act once and it was if he was caught red handed with the crown jewels!
