Did you know that the latest autism research has shown very low levels of total cholesterol among children suffering from autism? The lower the level, the more severley affected.Did you also know that almost every neurodegenerative disease has altered cholesterol synthesis and degradation as an underlying factor?Did you know that infant formula now contains DHA,which is widely known for its triglyceride lowering effect?Did you know that the manufacturers of this synthetic DHA have no idea what affect supplementation will have on synthesis or excretion of cholesterol?Oh,I bet there is a lot that you don't know.Big money has a way of keeping these little secrets.I know these things because I have asked those who should provide answers. They are not talking.I know because I have spent three years researching and sorting through fact and fiction.

I forgot to mention the findings of the most recent clinical study conducted. It seems that at three times todays dosage of DHA there are no benfits in brain or eye development for male infants. The authors are puzzled as to why they found a gender difference.Let me apologize for the makers of these new infant formulas.Sorry you paid extra for a benefit that their product claims.Sorry for a lack of an explaination after fifty million infants and fifteen years of supplementation worldwide.

Uh, OK, could you provide your sources so we can know this information is factual? I know a lot, so please don't presume that you know what we know.  Most of us really educate ourselves on what's going on with our children. But please provide documentation of your research so we can educate ourselves and decide what's best for our children since you can get non-DHA formulas.

First of all,I did not mean to insult you.As I mentioned earlier the manufacturers go to great lengths and pay large sums of money to promote their products.Enfamil is owned by Bristol Meyers Squibb. The reason that most people only know about the benefits of natural DHA(fish oil),as well as other essential long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids,is because there is a market for these products. The benefits of the aforementioned are found among adults not infants.Since,as you mentioned, non DHA formula is almost non-existant,there is very little choice for those who have to formula feed. This emphasizes how important it is for these supplements to be safe and beneficial to infants during development. There is way to much unknown about DHA to be accepted as safe or beneficial.Scientist do not fully understand natural DHA-The synthetic DHASCO used has properties that may be even more harmful.

I am more than happy to provide you with any information or answer any questions that you may have-to the best of my ability.

Wow,look at all the questions flooding in.Does anyone really care?If someone were to tell me three years ago that altering cholesterol in infants could lead to neurodegeneration I could have saved myself a lot of reading.I would have researched that fact and found out if it was pertinant.Instead I had to do it the hard way-neurobiology-organic chemistry-you know the the mind twisting stuff.

It makes about as much sense as the Texas massacre making headline news for days when troops die everyday and make the last page of the news. What is wrong with people today?

People want to be told what the truth is.Whether it is actually the truth or not.It is easier that way and it frees up time to do other things. Why bother actually doing research yourself when you can read an article and somehow become more informed than most. This is how theories such as vaccinations causing autism become real.Just because it doesn't satisfy why males are more likely(4:1) than females, doesn't mean it is not true.

No my friends it takes more than five minutes to establish causation. You can not just ignore stupid coincidentials like lower glutathione or casein and gluten intolerances. How about digestive issues? No you actually have to tivo dancing with the stars and dedicate some time to research.

For those reading and saying this guy is a jackass, maybe you can save me some time researching the following:Cholesterol deficits and their relationship with axon pathfinding, neuron migration, synapse formation, dendrite outgrouth, glutamate receptor regulation,GPI-anchored proteins and long term potentiation. Also, calcium and potassium channel activation.

I'm all ears.I welcome those of the medical profession.Afterall, we are trying to find a cause and cure, right?

I have not had a chance to read your links, but will later, only have  a few minutes right now.  Are you saying that Omega's which have DHA would be negative thing?  That is how I take your posts and would need to do more research/reading on that.  We are currently supplementing all of our kids with OmegaBrites brand .

That's right ,this stuff is probably way over your head. All you monday morning autism quarterbacks.Everyone Knows all the answers.I spent the time researching.I continue to research.I ask and try to answer my own questions.I do this because I love my son.I want him to get better.I want to help others.I do this because it has to be done and it is right. How much time have you devoted to research? What theory do you have? What website is there where people really want to find the truth?

Perhaps we would listen if you weren't insulting us. A lot of us have done research, but we're not going to jump on a bandwagon with pitchforks after reading one article. You made your first post barely 7 hours ago on a Saturday night.

Don't insult my intelligence or my love for my child.
