So Justin has a fever today (hovering between 101 and 102). While I'm worried about his temperature, I'm also struck by the fact that his speech today has been incredibly clear and lucid. He's just incredibly "with it". I've heard of this phenomenon before, but never really witnessed it. Justin doesn't really get sick and I couldn't tell you the last time he had a fever.

Anybody have any info on this? I've never really explored any of the viral protocols, but now I'm wondering if I should.

There are studies that indicate fever may be (may) beneficial in children with ASD, assuming there are no other medical issues.  Its not uncommon to have parents report improvement with fever.

My son used to be the same way, he would get a fever and all of a sudden be "typical".  We found out on accident that he had big problems with viruses.  Contacted our DAN and did almost a year of the MB12/Valtrex protocol and he made huge, enormous gains.  Now when he gets a fever, it's only a fever and he's just sick (no improvements noted) lol.

I have also noticed improvement is attention with my son when he has a fever - but nothing as dramatic as Julie saw.

Thanks for the replies. His fever has broke, but he's still not feeling very well. It's been a looooooong couple of days.

Fever always made BB clearer in his speech.  He would slow down and the words would come out far more on topic.

T is very verbal to start with, but yes, when she has a fever, she acts more NT!
